Weddings and Romance in Cold Spring-on-Hudson

Cold Spring-on-Hudson, NY -- The scenic riverfront village of Cold Spring-on- Hudson and its neighboring hamlet of Garrison are ideal spots for a romantic wedding ceremony, special reception or overnight getaway for honeymooners or couples celebrating an anniversary. There are also a number of small businesses that offer specialty services tailor-made for wedding parties.

Stunning locations make for memorable weddings and spectacular photos. The Chapel of Our Lady Restoration, on a bluff overlooking the Hudson River, is a charming Greek Revival-style non-denominational chapel. Built in 1834, the chapel has been lovingly restored and includes a beautiful Opus 61 Bozeman pipe organ with a tonal design inspired by the English and American organs of the early 19th century. The chapel can accommodate approximately 100 guests.

Boscobel Restoration, an elegant mansion built in 1804, permits wedding parties to use its extensive manicured lawns with sweeping views of the Hudson as the site for ceremonies and receptions during May, September and October. Formal gardens with a central fountain, a woodland trail with a gazebo and majestic trees offer picturesque backdrops.

Manitoga/The Russel Wright Design Center, the 20th Century home and landscape of noted industrial designer and environmentalist Russel Wright, offers a wooded setting. Mary's Meadow is strewn with wildflowers and ferns, while paths meander beside streams and "windows" formed by trees frame views of the Hudson.

The Garrison is a 300-acre wedding haven with all of the facilities needed for a memorable ceremony and reception, including fine dining, a holistic spa and salon, a yoga center, fitness center, stunning grounds and an on-site wedding coordinator. The glass-enclosed dining room and its adjacent outdoor terraces, landscaped garden and pergola offer sweeping views of the surrounding championship golf course, Hudson River and craggy highlands. Wedding packages for 100 or more guests are available and include a thoughtful touch: a dressing room for the bride. Or a couple may design a completely custom event and menu in keeping with their personal style.

Other possible ceremony locations are the gardens of local inns. A plus is the inns can also provide luxurious accommodations for the wedding couple or their guests. Hudson House River Inn, a 12-room built in 1832, is perfect for small parties with its country house feel, award-winning cuisine and seasonal outdoor dining, complete with spectacular river views. Pig Hill Inn, an elegant nine-room inn on Main Street, offers a tri-level garden and delightful conservatory for a small wedding party.

Several Cold Spring restaurants also offer romantic choices for a small ceremony or reception. Cathryn's Tuscan Grill features a landscaped dining courtyard at its entrance as well as a charming dining room and convivial bar.

Riverview, an Italian restaurant with an outdoor deck overlooking the Hudson, also features a charming bar and pale yellow dining room.  In addition to hosting small receptions, they offer a full-range of off-premise catering services.  The experts at Yannitelli Ltd. Wine and Spirits, established in 1933, can recommend the perfect wines, Champagnes and spirits for the festive gathering.

Gifts for bridesmaids and groomsmen can be found at a selection of Main Street specialty shops, including Archipelago At Home, The Country Touch, Highland Baskets at the Country Goose, and Payning by Caryn.
